ROADBOOK N°2 · THE RAVAGE JOURNAL

Barnabé Blanchard is a French automotive photographer, passing through Tokyo. There he came across one of our Japanese Ravages and its owner, set up a shoot at the last minute, and told us about this moment out of time. We hand him the floor.
We met up in Tokyo for a photo shoot of about two hours. We started in the small streets of a fairly typical neighbourhood, before finishing in Tokyo’s Italian quarter, which had a completely different atmosphere.
Communication wasn’t exactly easy because of the language barrier. We spent almost the whole shoot talking through the translators on our phones! But in the end we managed very well and were able to exchange quite a lot.
He told me about his passion for France and for French cars. He even explained that his everyday car was French! He was also very attached to Ravage and really wanted me to use my photos and my social networks to showcase this French workshop and help more enthusiasts discover it.
What was also pretty crazy was finding a Ravage on the other side of the world. It is already a very rare car in France, so in Japan it is even more exceptional! It was a great opportunity for me to photograph a French car, prepared by a French workshop, but this time in a setting completely different from what I am used to.
In the end, it was a beautiful encounter, quite improbable when you think about it, especially since it was organised at the last minute! That is also what I love about automotive photography: meeting enthusiasts all over the world and sharing good moments around cars, even without speaking the same language.
Here is the little story of this shoot in Tokyo!
